I entered a silent auction to support Scouting and was the high bidder on a 2 day guided or self-guided turkey hunt on Blue Springs Plantation in Albany! I'll turn this into a long weekend and kill a turkey on the exclusive plantation then go kill another one on Mack's lease! www.facebook.com/pages/Blue-Springs-Plantation/1413411618875511

Headed to Albenny tomorrow to chase a thunder chicken! Hoping 3 days of hunting will produce a few birds. Won't have much of a chance to hunt in April so bagging a few would be awesome.

We'll give it a shot. The rain shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Well it was the monster bird I was after but we had a good time for two days at Blue Springs, and we walked ALOT! Saw 3 hens and a jake this morning as they feed toward us. Heard a gobble so we ran them off to chase the gobble, to no avail. Had two young birds walk out of the same bottom from behind me in the afternoon. The walk to my right at less than 12 yards, then into some high grass. I couldn't see them when they came back outta the grass 100 yards away. I got on my knees and held a turkey fan in front of may face and eased myself to the edge of the grass where I could see them. Mack called a little and I used the fan to imitate a strutting tom which brought these birds to within 45 yards at which time I dropped the fan and fired the gun. Dead bird! Attachments:

That was some of the hardest hunting I've done in a long time. It will definitely be a bird to remember. Blue Springs is without a doubt one of the prettiest places I've ever been fortunate enough to hunt.

I really wish the season started now...it's always too short. Kelly is taking a maternity leave teaching job and it runs all the way through the season so getting out of town will be tough. Red

But then again Bradley if u make us stop hinting at lunch time the birds will have time to rest n won't be pressured into leaving. Ask antiquorojo3 aka ol red if u dnt believe me.
