TAMU and UGA were the teams that showed they were ready to play.
UGA might finally have the D coordinator they have been searching for. The DBs were supposed to be suspect, and they may still be, but the front 7 kept so much pressure on the QB that he didn't have time to exploit any weakness that may be there.
The stable of RBs that UGA has was rotated in very effectively keeping Girly III strong into the 4th quarter, and a strong Girly showed what he can do against a tired defense.
LSU did not look like it had been prepared to start the season. The old saying, if you have 2 QBs, you don't have 1, proved to be true. QBs could not hit the receivers, and the receivers could not catch on the few occasions that the ball was in the same zip code as their patterns. LSU's defense was down last year, and this year it's looking to be even worse. They cannot tackle. A team that they knew would run, ran all over them.
Luckily, Kenny Hillard rediscovered his freshman form. He is taking advantage of his last opportunity to get drafted. Fournette looks like he will be a good back, but Hillard carried the load last night.
Bama had trouble putting WV away. If I were a Tide fan, I'd be less concerned about the lack of performance than LSU fans should be because of Saban. Saban will get the players motivated from their lack of performances by next week, while Les is less adapt to coach the team up.
