I've got a CVA with a few different barrels. My favorite is my .308, especially now that thunter has is zeroed in.
Used to think that I need a semi-auto for a quick follow up shot, but was only shooting 1 time. Switched to a bolt action, then to the single shot.
I've also got a .45 ML barrel that I used to take my first ML deer last year.

Depending on terrain, I will be using a Marlin 30/30 topped with a Leupold 3X9X40 in the thicker woods, and in the fields it will be either my old faithful Browning A-Bolt 270 topped with a Bousch & Lomb 3x9x50, or my new Tikka T-3 Lite 308 topped with a Nikon 4x12x50.

I have shot and hunted with everything from the old faithful thuty-thuty all the way up to the weatherby 30-378(that sucker packed a punch...LOL). I jumped on the magnum band wagon only to find I burned more powder and that dead was still just dead. I went with the 7-08 because my dad(71) wanted a light recoiling gun for his shoulder, Last yearI picked him up an Encore in 7-08 ...... when I shot it I knew it woulld be my next hunting rifle.

I've got a 7-08 barrel for my Optima Elite, I just haven't hunted with it yet. In more open areas, I'd not hesitate. But in the wooded areas, I like my Tikka 30-06 or the .308 barrel on the Optima.
I picked up a .45/70 government barrel for the Optima as well because a client had hogs on his property. I figured that round would anything in its tracks.
